On one hand, this was a very welcome addition to Coalton. Existing APIs could become much more efficient (e.g., quotRem) without having to change anything. On the other hand, it created tremendous bloat in the compiler implementation (all this bookkeeping on tuple-returning functions) and program runtime (now tuple functions had two compiled entry points). Furthermore, this only worked for tuples with two components. Didn’t work for Tuple3, didn’t work with your own custom structs.
